I think this is a great suggestion, but as a remote employee with occasional travel it sure feels bad to pay for the storage upgrade for a macbook pro.

FWIW: I hang cheap drives off my M2 mini. Works with sneakernet. That how I transferred all my data "from" an intel mini in a minute.
