I understand the business needed to grow headcount during pandemic but couldn't they have grown headcount more responsibly to avoid these layoffs? Or are these things just too hard to judge?

Incompetency, poor judgement, lack of vision, and unrealistic projections?
When they announced opening of three new offices during Pandemic, I right-away said - 'no, they don't need it'. If I could say that w\o being internally involved, why can't they?
