The lack of theme templates is what makes Zola seem very unattractive to me.
The main selling point for many seems to be "oh hey it's written in Rust" and as such attracts rust people, but in the end it's a static site generator without as many features or development hours. You can use hugo, etc. and have the exact same thing with much more flexibility.
