Canada's wireless problems and mobile costs (most expensive int the world) could be solved in very short time. Allow US Carriers to enter the market.
The problem is the Wireless Oligarchy that the current Government supports would crumble. It's one of the reasons Rogers pushed so hard during the NAFTA 2 for Trudeau to classify them as a Canadian Media company (along with the other 2 Amigos, Bell and Telus).
Competition need not be from another country. The incumbents should be made to allow smaller Canadian entities to offer better packages for consumers. The CRTC is currently discussing such changes.
I had a weird problem with the outage. My iphone was working off wireless at home and the McDonald's app notified me of a deal. I went to McDonald's and unfortunately, I couldn't get the Q-code there. Even the wifi was down. So I ended up paying full price for a meal, "lost" about $4. I imagine that all the food delivery drivers were out of luck as well.
