I agree with you in spirit , however nobody was taught how to raise their kids in an age of incessant hyperstimulation , and people in general don't go out of their way to learn things properly

id recommend you look into the omega 6 to omega 3 ratio , the tldr is that the ratio of omega 6 to 3 is way out of balance in the modern western diet , from my viewpoint this has been spurred on by oils such as soy and canola which are very high in omega 6

i dont think it takes machismo to say that frying in animal fat is tastier than frying in whatever the hell constitues canola oil , as well your american breads and pastas are probably significantly less healthy than the european equivalent

Looking at dry pasta from Europe and the US, they seem pretty much the same, except the US pasta is more likely to use enriched flour; not sure what makes that less healthy.

Bread varies a lot and yeah we have some terrible breads, I don't buy them but someone must because they keep selling them

it was a bit doubtful that the recipe for pasta could vary so much , although i do see on the net that america is fond of jar pasta sauce over tomato cans (not pasta exactly but intrinsically linked) ... perhaps this down promotion of carbs is a knock on effect from years of the keto diet being mainstream

non americans call it a normal discussion about the events affecting our lives

while the spirit of your statement is clear , i dont think its 'properly craven' to recognise both an individual's faults and their strengths - in this case the author goes to lengths to state he does not necessarily agree with either musk or vance. has anybody successfully recieved protection from this US administration while acknowledging fault of said administration ? from outside this doesnt seem likely as US politics is currently operating like team sports (ie. no tolerance of toeing party lines, 'youre either with us or against us')

indeed the author sounds like an alien visiting a human zoo

and people wonder why i call psychiatrists legal drug dealers - what incentive does a psychiatrist have to fix someone , when they could make 10x more money keeping that person dependant forever

Any psychotherapist, and mainly psychiatrists, tries to create a heavy dependence to their patents, not so chemical but behavioral and psychological, which they call patient bonding. They don't want to instruct the patient and make them independent. It's shown that this causes a consistent improvement and simultaneously establishes their dominance long-term.

> Any psychotherapist ... tries to create a heavy dependence to their patents, not so chemical but behavioral and psychological, which they call patient bonding.

This world view is extreme, not true, and directly harmful to your mental health.

You should consider talking to a psychotherapist about why you feel that way :^)

In all seriousness, the world is a much more pleasant place when you discard extremist views and accept the good with the bad.

it is a choice to take the red or blue pill

If we had effective treatment, then psychiatrists that are effective would quickly displace ones that keep you hooked on non-effective ones.

theres definitely a few counter arguments that are valid ... on a personal level i am far too biased to consider changing my mind , after multiple times witnessing psychiatrists increase drug dosages upon being informed that symptoms were improving ... thats what a drug dealer does not a doctor ... oh shit that sounds like an llm hahaha

it may sound like that to you , to me it sounds like survival of the fittest has nothing to do with what we humans choose to define as fit

Survival of the fittest is "that which reproduces more successfully, continues". In biology, this is genetics. In ideas, it's memetics. I suppose this means that our most powerful ideas from the internet generation are Rickroll, Doge, and Grumpy Cat.

A nice confirmation for all those who correctly guessed that this was fake!

does this apply universally to bacterial strains ?

The Internet almost universally disagrees, based on a quick search:

https://seed.com/cultured/probiotics-refrigeration-storage-g...

Lyophilization is a fancy word for freeze-drying. "If a probiotic is refrigerated, it doesn’t mean it’s a better quality" is of course true. But nothing that I said is false. If I am getting probiotics from a quality source, I am going to prefer the refrigerated product over the "shelf-stable" one every time.

There's a difference between "choosing one over the other" and the original claim of shelf stabilized probiotics being not worth buying.

On a few occasions when my dog has gotten sick, or needed antibiotics, shelf stabilized probiotics cleaned their digestion right up.

Are strains that only survive when refrigerated probably a higher count? Maybe. Are there stains that are better but can't be freeze dried? Probably. Are there shelf stable probiotics that are worth buying, especially if you don't have access to refrigerated stuff? Absolutely!

I never denied any of that. Read my comment again, more carefully.

The very first line of your comment:

> PSA: If a probiotic is on the shelf, not in a cooler, it's probably not worth buying.

is exactly what I was responding to, along with your one word response "Yes" to that applying equally to all bacterial strains, which is also untrue.

The statements below can all be taken as true, together. Probably doesn't not mean always. https://i.imgur.com/BRNn0rJ.png

If a probiotic is on the shelf, not in a cooler, it's probably not worth buying
Strains that only survive when refrigerated are maybe probably a higher count
There are probably strains that are better but can't be freeze dried
There are absolutely shelf stable probiotics that are worth buying, especially if you don't have access to refrigerated stuff

Why do you think they’re here, sharing the info with you?

If you could just Google it up, not nearly as interesting to HN.

Thank you
